Himmel (Danish for Sky) – in the Norse myths, the sky was perceived as a convexity created out of the skull of the primeval giant Ymer. Four dwarfs stood in each corner of the sky; their names were
Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern. Sparks from Muspelheim were placed on the sky as stars and celestial bodies. Sun and Moon and Day and Night were dragged across the sky by horses. Ymer’s brain became clouds.
