“HYNDLA”

’The Small Dog’; a Norse female giant from the poem Hyndluljóð, ”Song of Hyndla”. She is portrayed as knowledgeable in the genealogy of gods and heroes. At one point, fertility goddess Freja goes to Hyndla’s cave, wakes her up, and asks her to come to Valhal. Freja rides a hog, and Hyndla discovers that the hog is in fact the transformed Ottar (who is Freja’s protégé). Hyndla rides a wolf.
