“ØRLOG”

Ørlog – a Norse word associated with the notion of fate. According to mythology, the Norse Fates – Norns – defined life and death for every individual; each lifetime was allotted at the time of birth. It was for instance said of the first human couple, Ask and Embla, that they were ‘ørlogsusa’ – without fate – when they were still two trees.
