Hlésey – according to the Norse myths, the sea gods Ægir and Ran, lived in splendid, golden halls under the island of Hlésey. Ægir and Ran were a married couple and had nine daughters who all became mothers of Heimdal; the enigmatic guardian of Asgård. Today, Hlésey is known as Læsø and is situated between Denmark and Sweden in Kattegat.
