“TYRS DAG”

Tyrs dag – Tuesday (Týsdagr in Norse). Tyr is a god among the Ases, and his name literally means ’god’. The name might indicate that Tyr was the original deity, and a theory goes that he has somewhat resigned and thus handed over the arena to Odin and Tor. Perhaps he has shared the central position with Odin? Odin was the estatic and strategic war god, while Tyr was the regular and law-abiding god; god of agreements and thingsteads – the protector of taken oaths. A sword is believed to be Tyr’s main attribute.
