Skop, betyder ‘det tildelte’ og er et af flere norrøne ord, der har med forestillingen om skæbne at gøre. Især er nornerne (skæbnegudinderne) knyttet sammen med skop, fx i formuleringen: Ingen undgår nornernes bestemmelse (norna skop).

Skop – means ”what has been allotted”, and is one of many Norse words related to the notion of fate or destiny. The Norner (Norse Fates) are particularly associated with ’skop’. An old expression is ”Norna Skop” which means that no one avoids the rulings of the Norner.
