Vinland (Wineland) – the so-called Vinland Sagas tell the stories of how a group of Northeners led by Leif Erikson discovered continental America around the year 1000 A.D. Vinland is described as a place where wheat and grapes grow wild, and where the rivers are abundant with salmon. There has been numerous suggestions to the precise location of Vinland; from New York to Newfoundland. According to the most recent theories, Vinland can be located to the New Brunswick area south of the Saint Lawrence River.

Vinland – i de såkaldte Vinlandssagaer fra omkring 1200 fortælles, hvorledes nordboer, blandt andet Leif den Lykkelige omkring år 1000 fandt land vest for Grønland. Vinland beskrives som et sted, hvor hvede og vindruer gror vildt, og hvor floderne bugner af laks.
Der har været talrige forslag om, hvor Vinland lå; og lokaliteter fra New York i syd til nordspidsen af Newfoundland i nord er blevet foreslået. Ifølge de seneste teorier skal Vinland søges i New Brunswick-området syd for St. Lawrence-floden.
